Sunday: Youth Cook-off

Off the back of the awesome inaugural Youth Cook-off last year, 2023 will provide another excellent platform for our younger cooks to hon their skills with a grilling cooking class, followed by a cook off that will again be taught and judged by some of NZs Top Pitmasters.

The teams are focused on preparing food for the judges. They take this competition stuff very seriously, there is a lot on the line for the teams + not many of them are registered food business, so are unable to supply food for the general public at events. However you can apply to be a judge, or grab a feed from one of our amazing vendors!
You can purchase food from our range of vendors, we will have Barbecue foods, as well as some of your usual festival favourites including vegetarian options.
Yes!! We welcome new teams, and even have prizes for best new competitors over the festival. Check back here from 1st August to register.
The best place to start with is BBQ Alliance or Steak Cook Offs. You can also drop our organisers an email.
No need to register for classes, your ticket includes access to the Barbecue stage and demo area.
