The Dave Tewi Teka Band is a powerhouse of talent led by the multi-instrumentalist and frontman, Dave Tewi Teka. The group has earned a loyal following for their high-energy performances, smooth musicianship, and genre-spanning sets that effortlessly blend blues, soul, funk, rock, and classic Kiwi favourites.

At the heart of the band is Dave Tewi Teka himself – a seasoned performer with decades of experience across New Zealand’s live music scene. Dave toured for 20-plus years with his brother Tui Teka both nationally and internationally, playing guitar, bass and singing.

Equally at home behind the drum kit, bass guitar, or on vocals, Tewi is known for his versatile musical ability, magnetic stage presence, and deep love of performing. His musical roots run deep, drawing inspiration from the greats of blues and soul, while also bringing his unique flair and cultural identity to the stage.

The band’s live shows are nothing short of electric. Whether performing at large-scale festivals, community events, or intimate venues, they bring a warmth and authenticity that resonates with audiences of all ages. Their setlist is a vibrant mix of blues standards, funked-up classics, soulful ballads, and original grooves – always delivered with a tight rhythm section and plenty of heart.

Backing Dave are son Abel Teka on guitar and vocals, Dave’s nephews Mangere Teka also on guitar and vocals, and Silys Tawhara playing drums, and PapaPeri Grant vocals, percussion and harp. All are seasoned musicians with many years of experience, and the group is a natural fit for festivals, thanks to their wide appeal, professional polish, and ability to turn any crowd into fans.
